Making Democracy Work

League of Women Voters of the Pinebelt, Inc

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, multipurpose organization of women and men that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government and influences policy through education and advocacy. The League does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. We do provide a forum where all candidates to an office can state their own positions.

The Pinebelt League was formed in March 2016 in Hattiesburg to serve the city and surrounding areas -the counties of Covington, Forrest, Jasper, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lamar, Marion, Smith, Simpson, Pearl River and Stone. The active chapter keeps busy with voter registration drives and other events. Their goals are to improve our government and engage all citizens in the decisions that impact their lives. Voter Registration Drives are ongoing.

LWV Pinebelt 2019 Voter Registration Drive locations include: Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Hattiesburg High School, Laurel High School, and the Hattiesburg branch of Pearl River Community College. The are having great success and the students were very receptive to having the opportunity to vote. Contact LWV-Pine Belt to get involved with any of their activities.
